Final Product + Feedback
Here, I am going to gather feedback for the final iteration of my short horror film so then I know my short film is as high of a standard as possible.
Here, I decided to lean into the fact that the nightmare sequences are grainy by adding effects to amplify this which is a trope used in several horror movies such as the Blair Witch Project. The reason I did was to make the audience more unsure of what is going to happen throughout the nightmare sequences as it gives contrast to the 'in reality' scenes that still are slightly grainy to show the effects the nightmare had on the character. This is why by the end, there is no grain to the images.
To ensure my final product is as quality of a product I can make it, I did one last focus group so then I know if my final product is good enough. Up first, I asked the same question I've asked in my previous focus groups which is 'What do you like about Frectum?' With this, my answers ranged from 'acting' to 'character development' to 'the visuals impact the narrative'. Using this, I can see what works well with Frectum/ are the brightest aspects within the short horror film.
In addition, similar to my previous focus groups, I asked 'What do you not like about Frectum?' To ensure there weren't any glaring flaws within my product, I had to ask this question again. With this question, my answer was consistent as the answer I gathered was 'nothing.' Using this, I can see that according to my target audience, there are no glaring issues and flaws with the short horror film.
Moreover, to further prove that my product has no glaring flaws, I asked a few additional questions to gather if the changes and persistent quality of the product is ever-dent so I asked, 'Do you like the grainy aspects to the nightmare sequences?' I asked this question as this change to incorporate a more grainy aspect to the film was only made during the final product as I believe this gives a subtle meaning for the target audience to look into (that being that the protagonist's demons being in control until the end.) With this, my answer was overwhelmingly positive as the only answer I gathered from asking my target audience was a resounding 'yes.' Using this, I can see that adding a grainy effect to the product worked in delivering a higher quality short film.
Lastly, I asked a question regarding the general short film., This question was, 'Do you like the story?' I asked this question to gauge if my target audience still believe it is a highlight of my product as in the first question, the story wasn't mentioned. With this, similar to the previous question, the response was overwhelmingly positive as the only answer I gathered was 'yes.' Using this, I can see that my target audience's reaction to my short horror film is fully positive from the feedback I gathered.
