Production + Post-Production

Here, I am going to go through the first iterations of my short horror film, gathering feedback for this and my production and post-production diary so then I am as organised with my product as possible and make it as high quality as possible.

Here, this is the first iteration of my short horror film which I will gather feedback for so I know and understand which areas I need to improve upon as without getting feedback I might miss some critical errors which would greatly effect the product. During filming this first iteration, I ran into a few technical issues involving lighting as during the scenes filmed within the bedroom, it took a lot of trial and error to make the lighting organic within the scene. In addition, when filming the nightmare sequences, I had a similar issue of balancing the lighting with a dark scene which took a multitude of attempts to get correct.

Moreover, the reason I asked these particular questions is due to the fact that they would give me the best information to improve my product. For example, I got feedback regarding the fact my product "needs refining." Using this, I could gather that a part of my target audience believes my first draft is very basic and needs to be more balanced within the edits.

In addition, this feedback has proved important so that I can make changes in the areas that need improving the most. This would be vital in the industry as if this wasn't done products wouldn't be revised and as polished as it should be as every major film studio gathers feedback for there product.

Moreover, to get additional feedback to ensure what things I need to improve upon, I did a focus group. The first question I asked was 'what did you like about the short horror film?' This question was asked to gauge my target audience's interest within the product. With this, my feedback ranged from 'really liking the camera angles' to 'the darkness of the nightmare sequences' to 'the acting was really good' and lastly that 'it's a really good concept.' Using this, I can gather that these areas are things I don't have to worry about as much although I will still be refining these sectors throughout the project.

On the other hand, the next question I asked was 'what do you think could be improved upon?' I asked this to understand the key areas that I need to focus and improve upon in my second draft. With this, my feedback ranged from 'more editing' to 'refining the story.' Using this, I can gather that the story and editing needs to be updated which will be done through re-structuring and editing the narrative slightly as to ensure I didn't fall behind, I didn't focus on making the narrative flawless regarding the clip arrangement which I will improve upon in my second draft.

Here, this is my second draft which I will gather feedback for and make improvements to so then my final product will be as high quality as possible. I improved the general structure of the film alongside improving the general flow and cutting down the footage.

Using this, I can see what areas I need to improve upon which I can do thanks to the feedback as if I didn't do this, all of the issues presented would remain unresolved.

Moreover, to get additional feedback to ensure what things I need to improve upon, I did a focus group. Similarly to the previous focus group, I asked identical questions with the improvements I made to see if there were other areas I needed to improve upon. Therefore the first question I asked was 'what did you like about Frectum version 2?' With this, I received answers ranging from 'really good camera angles' to 'good editing' to 'it had a nice pace to it.' Using this, I can see there is a positive amount of feedback regarding areas I needed to improve upon in my first draft.

On the other hand, I asked questions on how it could be improved upon as the first question I asked was 'what do you think could be improved upon it?' With this, I received answers ranging from 'could be longer' to 'it's not a conclusive ending.' Using this, I can see the areas I need to continue to work on in my future drafts.

In addition, I once again decided to deliver a focus group in which I asked the question, 'what do you like about Frectum V3?' I asked this question to gauge if there were other areas that were exceeding in the eyes of my target audience. With this, my answers ranged from 'good story' to 'good editing' to  'camera angles.' Using this, I can see the exceeding areas are similar to my previous draft therefore I don't need to focus on these areas anymore

On the other hand, I asked the question 'what could be improved upon it?' I asked this to see what else I can improve upon. However, the only response I got was that 'I'm not sure'. With this, I know that I don't have any major issues with my product although I want to further polish my work so the final iteration is as good as it can be.
