Evaluation

Furthermore, I researched into the codes and conventions of short horror films so then I would have a better understanding of what is the threshold for a short horror film along with what camera angles and shot sizes tend to be present within short horror films. In addition, the short horror film communicates to the audience through the codes and conventions along with the story line throughout which is done to represent the meaning to never give up.

Final Product + Feedback

Image
Here, I am going to gather feedback for the final iteration of my short horror film so then I know my short film is as high of a standard as possible.  Here, I decided to lean into the fact that the nightmare sequences are grainy by adding effects to amplify this which is a trope used in several horror movies such as the Blair Witch Project. The reason I did was to make the audience more unsure of what is going to happen throughout the nightmare sequences as it gives contrast to the 'in reality' scenes that still are slightly grainy to show the effects the nightmare had on the character. This is why by the end, there is no grain to the images.   To ensure my final product is as quality of a product I can make it, I did one last focus group so then I know if my final product is good enough. Up first, I asked the same question I've asked in my previous focus groups which is  'What do you like about Frectum?' With this, my answers ranged from 'acting' to '...

Production + Post-Production

Image
Here, I am going to go through the first iterations of my short horror film, gathering feedback for this and my production and post-production diary so then I am as organised with my product as possible and make it as high quality as possible.  Here, this is the first iteration of my short horror film which I will gather feedback for so I know and understand which areas I need to improve upon as without getting feedback I might miss some critical errors which would greatly effect the product. During filming this first iteration, I ran into a few technical issues involving lighting as during the scenes filmed within the bedroom, it took a lot of trial and error to make the lighting organic within the scene. In addition, when filming the nightmare sequences, I had a similar issue of balancing the lighting with a dark scene which took a multitude of attempts to get correct.          Moreover, the reason I asked these particular questions is due to the fa...

Pre-production: Creative+ Logistical Elements

Image
Here, I am going to put all my creative and logistical elements for pre-production so then when I film, I am as organised as possible and I know where and when I am going to film. Using this resource list, I am more prepared for my production as if I didn't do this I would be unprepared with what equipment I need during the filming process.    In addition, a potential issue that can occur is if a member of my crew becomes ill or can't make it on a particular day. To ensure this issue has solutions, I will give myself enough time to re shoot footage that I may have missed during the time period. On top of this, I will have a contingency plan on what I should do during a particular day encase I can't complete the original task so then I am still productive and working towards completing the project.  Using this, I know what locations I am going to scout as if I didn't do this, choosing a location would be a more chaotic task to accomplish and would be very unprofes...

Project Rationale

Image
Here, I  am going to complete my pitch and gather feedback so then I can move forward to the next stage of production (creative and logistics for pre-production.) To ensure my pitch was understood to the best of its capabilities, I pitched my idea to several people who didn't have any immediate problems with the pitch.  To ensure my pitch was understood properly, I did a focus group so then the feedback I gather can be more unfiltered than the surveys. So the first question I asked was 'what do you like about the pitch?' I asked this question to immediately gauge what works well with my pitch. With this, my answers ranged from 'really good ideas' to 'informative about the project' to 'matches with what the client would want.' Using this, I can see that my pitch was informative and that it had really good ideas which means I should be able to move onto the next steps of creating this product.  On the other hand, I asked the complete opposite questi...

Investigation and Analysis

Image
Here, I am going to be investigating and analysing different camera angles, the client and the target audience. I am doing this to understand the client and target audience better so then my product can delicate to there needs.  Using this, I can see what shots I can potentially use within my product as this has given my initial ideas for my project including potentially doing a comedic style short film or a documentary regarding Sunderland culture. Moreover, this has helped me refresh my technical skills and ideas for shots I can use within the project. Bright Lights Youth Art Exhibition   Furthermore, I decided to research into Bright Lights Youth Arts Exhibition so then I can understand the client further. Using this, I can see what is required for this area along with understanding what Sunderland Culture have hosted in the past. This can help me with my product as I can see what there standards have been with previous campaigns. If I didn't do this, I wouldn't know the...

Interpreting the Brief

Moreover, Sunderland culture's requirements (as they are the client) are to create a short fictional film/ documentary or a form of print media or a combination of both areas. Moreover, the product must showcase the region although this could be the cast or where I decide to film. Sunderland Culture aims to provide ways for local people to see the arts of the region. Also, I have no information regarding the demographics and psycho graphics therefore I don't have as much constraints in regards to my idea as I don't have to appeal to a certain area in psycho graphics.
